The Yeongchun-myeon area of Danyang, home to the Ondal Tourist Park, was known as Eeuladanhyeon during the Three Kingdoms Period. It was Goguryeo territory, and is said to have been a battleground for fierce territorial wars between Goguryeo and Silla, with the Sobaek Mountains' Jukryeong Pass and the Namhangang River serving as their boundaries.
Near the present-day Yeongchun-myeon area, centered around the Ondal Tourist Park, various place names and cultural relics related to the Three Kingdoms period remain. These include Gun-gan Naru (meaning ‘military hospital landing place’), which signifies a location akin to a large field hospital where wounded soldiers were treated and nursed; Taejangimyo(meaning ‘Great General's Tomb’), a Goguryeo-style fortress tomb believed to be the burial site of General Ondal; Hyuseok-dong where a large rock served as a resting place; Eunpo-dong where weapons were hidden, and Eunpodong where cannons were concealed. Various place names related to war and diverse Three Kingdoms Period border cultural relics remain to this day.

Ondal Tourist Park is a national tourism development project centered on the region's Goguryeo historical and cultural elements and the love theme of “General Ondal and Princess Pyeonggang.” Construction began in Danyang County in 1995 and was completed in 1997. Spanning a total area of 99,000 m², it features the Ondal Exhibition Hall, which re-examines and displays Goguryeo's lifestyle culture and the love story of General Ondal and Princess Pyeonggang, and a theme park centered on General Ondal and Princess Pyeonggang.
The K-drama filming location completed in 2007, recreates imperial palaces, mansions, residences, the city gate, and market streets from the Sui and Tang dynasties. It has been used for filming various dramas starting with ‘Yeon Gaesomun’. It is open to the public, displaying costumes and props used during filming, along with models of characters from the dramas, and visitors can take photos with them.

The Ondal Exhibition Hall underwent a comprehensive renovation project in 2020, expanding to a total area of 364㎡ for the main exhibition hall and 354㎡ for the theme exhibition hall. It features panels on the lives of Ondal and Pyeonggang, a Goguryeo Lifestyle Hall, a Danyang Information Hall, a Goguryeo Culture Hall, a Goguryeo Figures Hall, and a Goguryeo Tombs Hall, allowing visitors to experience the culture and daily life of Goguryeo at that time.
Ondaldonggul Cave is a natural cave formed in the limestone underground area at the western end of the Ondal Tourist Park. Legend has it that General Ondal trained here, hence its name ‘Ondaldonggul Cave’. Academic surveys began in 1966, and it has been open to the public since 1997.
Ondalsanseong Fortress is presumed to have been constructed by Goguryeo and later reinforced by Silla on the summit (427m) of Seongsan, overlooking the Namhangan River. It offers both exploration of Goguryeo historical and cultural heritage and panoramic views of the beautiful Namhangang River landscape.
Based on this Goguryeo historical and cultural heritage and the folktales passed down through generations, Danyang has held the “Ondal Cultural Festival” every October since 1996 at the Ondal Tourist Park. This festival recreates the Goguryeo culture still present in the region.
